Lauren London & Jonah Hill’s Romantic Kiss In ‘You People’ Was Allegedly Fake & Made w/ CGI
Lauren London may have puckered up her lips for Jonah Hill but she didn’t necessarily follow through with the kiss.
In a recent episode of the “Brilliant Idiots” podcast, comedian Andrew Schulz sat down with his co-host Charlamagne tha God and discussed the Netflix film he appeared in, “You People.” During their chat, Andrew Schulz claimed the final wedding sequence, where actress Lauren London kissed Jonah Hill, was done using CGI (computer-generated imagery). He shared:
“There’s a hilarious thing, I don’t even know if I should share this sh*t, but the final scene, they don’t even kiss. It’s CGI. Swear to god, son.”
After Charlamagne tha God, real name Lenard McKelvey, questioned his co-host’s claim, Andrew Schulz, 39, explained how the romantic moment actually occurred.
“I’m there, I’m watching the wedding, and I see them go in for the kiss, and their faces stop like this far. And I’m like, ‘I wonder how they’re going to play that in the movie. Oh, they’re probably just gonna cut right there.’ But the movie, you can see their faces come close, and then you can see their faces morph a little bit into a fake kiss.”
Netflix subscribers can judge the kiss for themselves shortly after the 1:48:00 mark of the Kenya Barris-directed feature, which the “Black-ish” creator co-wrote with two-time Oscar-nominee Jonah Hill.

Twitter users found the CGI-generated kiss to be amateurish, with some even claiming that Lauren London wasn’t ready to give the role her all and another actress should have been cast. As you may recall, London’s longtime partner rapper Nipsey Hussle, born Ermias Asghedom, was shot and killed outside of his Los Angeles clothing store in March of 2019.

Despite seemingly not having any romantic chemistry with Hill, London has no problem defending her co-star. As previously reported, during the “You People” premiere, Lauren London shared she had no issue with Hill’s decision to skip out on press for the film in order to protect his mental health. London expressed:
“Life is tough for all of us.”
She added:
“For us to pretend that we’re stronger than others and we can handle more, that’s unfair. I hold space for Jonah Hill. That’s my homeboy. I love him and whatever he needs to do for his soul, I am there for it.”

Reportedly, “You People” debuted atop Netflix’s top 10 movies shortly after its premiere on Jan. 27 with 55.65 million hours viewed late last month. The film is about a new couple and their families coming to terms with modern love amid cultural clashes, societal expectations, and generational differences.
