Jussie Smollett — Nigerian Brothers Who Were Paid By Actor To Stage Infamous Attack Break Their Silence, Claim They Still Feel ‘Betrayed’ By Hate Crime Lies
The brothers who were paid by Jussie Smollett to carry out a staged attack on him are speaking out.
During a recent interview, for the new documentary entitled “Anatomy of a Hoax,” Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo broke their silence on the staged attack and the role they played.
As previously reported, back in January 2019, Jussie Smollett, 40, claimed that while he was walking to a Chicago-based subway at 2 a.m. he was attacked by 2 white men who called him racist and homophobic slurs. According to the actor, his attackers placed a rope around his neck, poured an “unknown substance” on him, and yelled out “This is MAGA country” before they fled the scene.
However, after an investigation took place, a few holes were found in Smollett’s story and law enforcement accused him of being responsible for the attack. Nigerian brothers Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo eventually came forward and claimed that the assault was fake, as prosecutors speculated, and Smollett paid them to attack him.
During their latest interview, the Osundairo brothers revealed why they agreed to go along with the hoax.
Olabinjo said,
“I was down to do it because if we do this for him, he could probably help us out with our careers.”
In the documentary, the Osundairo brothers visited the scene of the crime and gave details on how they staged the attack on Jussie Smollett.
Abimbola explained,
“I threw the first punch at him. I held the blow because I didn’t want to hurt him. So I made it look real, but I held it. Then we started tussling, moving around. And then I threw him to the ground. He wanted it to look like he fought back. That was very important for him. Because he said, ‘don’t just beat my ass, make it look like i’m fighting back.'”

Olabinjo then revealed he was the one who poured the bleach on Smollett.
“That’s where I came around with the infamous bleach, poured it on his shirt. Then I put the rope around his face, I did not put it around his neck, I just placed it on his face and that’s when we took off.”
Amibola admitted that he feels betrayed by Smollett for not admitting his part in the scheme, and taking the fall as he and his brother were forced to do.
“I did feel betrayed by Jussie and what he had done. I didn’t know what to do – I wasn’t ready to say anything. Like, I was mute. And I didn’t want to say anything.”

In December 2021, the “Empire” star was convicted after lying to authorities about the alleged attack. In March 2022, Jussie Smollett was found guilty of making false police reports and felony disorderly conduct. The actor was sentenced to 150 days in prison and placed on 30 months of probation. However, he was released on bond while his case is on appeal.
Meanwhile, the Osundairo brothers were able to walk away from the incident with just two years probation and a small fine, after cooperating with police and unmasking the ruse.
