‘RHOA’ Star Kim Zolciak & Husband Kroy Biermann Owe 1.1 Million In Back Taxes, Couple Hit w/ A Tax Lien
Former ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star Kim Zolciak-Biermann and her husband Kroy Biermann have been hit with a federal tax lien accusing them of owing $1.1 million in unpaid taxes.
According to Radar Online, the IRS filed a federal tax lien against the couple on April 11 for for unpaid taxes, interest, and penalties. The lien accused the Biermann’s of owing $103,564.48 for 2013, $330,126.29 for 2017, and $714,143.90 for 2018 with the grand total coming to $1,147,834.67. The IRS warned the lien will be placed against all property owned by the Biermann family.
This news comes months after Kim and Kroy’s Alpharetta, GA home was up for foreclosure.
Back in February, the home was taken off the list of properties for sale at a public auction. The law office of Brock & Scott, PLLC said the foreclosure auction was canceled but did not provide details for the last-minute cancellation. As previously reported, the Biermann’s $2.6 million home was scheduled to be auctioned off on March 7 by Truist Bank at the Fulton County Courthouse.
Truist Bank had claimed the couple defaulted on their $1.65 million mortgage and hired a law firm to begin foreclosure proceedings in 2022.
The official notice read:
“The debt secured by said Security Deed has been and is hereby declared due because of, among other possible events of default, failure to pay the indebtedness as and when due and in the manner provided in the Note and Security Deed.”
Back in November 2022, the reality TV personality took to her social media to deny claims of her home making its way to a new owner for a just little over $200,000.
The 44-year-old said in a video:
“Okay, you guys, my house has not been sold for $257,000. If you guys think I would let my home, that we’ve put millions and millions of dollars into, go for $257,000, you’re an idiot, okay? For real.”
In addition to the foreclosure frenzy, Zolciak-Biermann has also been ordered to pay American Express over $215,000 in debt. The suit said that Zolciak had refused to pay a $215,925.90 bill despite numerous demands.
Despite being served, Kim Zolciak ignored the lawsuit and didn’t bother to show up to court. As a result, the judge granted American Express’ motion for a default judgment on May 9, 2019. The court ordered Zolciak to pay $215,822.68 in damages. Now, years later, the credit card company is still attempting to collect on the debt.
