Quavo’s Assistant, Who Was Injured During Fatal Takeoff Shooting, Sues Bowling Alley Where Incident Took Place

The Houston location where rap star Takeoff was tragically murdered last year was recently hit with a lawsuit.

Reports state that an attorney for Joshua Washington, who was working as Quavo’s assistant at the time, is suing the venue, its owners, and partners, accusing them of extreme negligence.

As we covered back in November, Joshua “Wash” Washington, 24, was among several people injured during the shootout that claimed the life of Takeoff, real name Kirsnick Khari Ball. The fatal incident took place at 810 Billiards on November 1st, 2022. According to Washington’s legal team, the venue holds a good portion of responsibility for the devastating event, ignoring warnings that they needed stronger security measures and failing to deliver on promises of safety.

Reportedly, the lawsuit reads:

“810 Houston was warned that they needed extra security. They knew it was a hotspot for violent crime and that an after-hours event like this could turn deadly in a second. But they ignored those warnings and now they have blood on their hands…This shooting was a tragedy. But it was a preventable tragedy.”

And continues:

“They had no properly trained security personnel, adequate signage, lighting, or cameras. They had no screening to keep out weapons. They didn’t even have a working metal detector…This was a powder keg of their own making, and individuals like Takeoff and Joshua Washington got caught in the explosion.”

The defendants listed as part of the suit include 810 Houston, LVA4 Houston Greenstreet, Lionstone Partners, Midway Companies Llc, and Cushman & Wakefeld Of Texas. The legal document claims that despite attendees being assured there would be sufficient security in place, the venue and event organizers didn’t even implement basic parameters nor did they have any plan of action in case of an emergency.

Washington reportedly recalled that upon being hit by gunfire, there was no immediate response by medical professionals, stating:

“There was no one…The bullets started flying and no one came to help. There were no security guards trying to stop the shooting, no one to help those of us who were hurt, no one at all. They just left us there to die.”

Back in January of this year, another victim injured during the incident also spoke out about her experience. Sydney Leday revealed she amounted hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of medical debt after being treated for her injuries. Leday previously tearfully recounted the scary moments after she was shot in the head and started a GoFundMe to help cover her bills.

Washington was eventually taken to the hospital following the shooting and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He was reportedly grazed with a bullet that just missed his colon. At this time, the amount he’s seeking in damages has not been reported.
