Lizzo Receives Letter Of Support From 18 Employees Amid Shocking Harassment Lawsuits From Former Dancers & Wardrobe Stylist

Lizzo’s support system is rallying around her.

Earlier this year Lizzo was hit with a shocking lawsuit from three of her former dancers who claimed they were subjected to a hostile work environment under her watch. Subsequent to their allegations making national headlines, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Sophia Nahli Allison came forward and expressed similar sentiments, claiming her time working with Lizzo was “extremely toxic.” As if that wasn’t bad enough, last month wardrobe stylist Asha Daniels filed another lawsuit against the “Truth Hurts” artist and her team for racial harassment, sexual harassment, disability discrimination, assault, and illegal retaliatory termination.

Lizzo has adamantly denied the claims from her former staff, and others who have worked for the Grammy Award winner are now speaking out in support of her. According to new reports, Lizzo’s lawyers have received a letter of support from 18 members of her staff. Reportedly, the document was inked by dancers, choreographers, and musicians who are a part of Lizzo’s touring company. In the letter, they claim to have never witnessed or personally experienced any type of harassment or racism during their time working for Lizzo.

Professional dancer Melissa Locke allegedly wrote,

“Having worked with Lizzo for years, it is my personal belief that Lizzo would never body shame anyone, including Davis, or comment on her weight in a negative and hurtful manner.”

Locke’s comment is seemingly in relation to the initial lawsuit Lizzo was hit with, which said she once body-shamed a dancer by the name of Arianna Davis.

However, dancer Jayla Sullivan also claimed they “never observed” Lizzo harassing Davis over her weight.

Sullivan added,

“Lizzo inspired all of us to celebrate and love ourselves and our bodies as we are.”

This isn’t the first time that Lizzo has had employees claim they weren’t mistreated by her. In August, dancers from her “BIG GRRRLS” team released a statement on Instagram thanking Lizzo for their tour experience. The statement came soon after the entertainer was hit with the first lawsuit.

The original lawsuit from professional dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez also alleged that Lizzo once threatened Rodriguez with physical violence. The letter of support penned by other staffers, however, claimed otherwise. Dancer Kiara Mooring wrote,

“I am familiar with the allegation in the complaint that Rodriguez was in fear of being physically attacked by Lizzo during the May 3, 2023 meeting when she resigned. I was at that meeting… Lizzo never got near Rodriguez or in her face. Her voice got higher because she was upset and felt that her trust was betrayed.”
