Music Producer Memphitz Draws Major Backlash After Announcing New Dating Show, Public Recalls His Abuse Towards Ex-Wife Toya Johnson & K. Michelle
A forthcoming reality series centered around music producer Memphitz‘ may get canceled before it even begins.
Social media users were quick to share their objections to the dating series, citing his alleged abusive nature towards his exes.

Memphitz
Memphitz, real name Mickey Wright, announced that he is set to star in a dating reality series earlier this week, welcoming women of Atlanta to come and audition. The music professional posted a flyer for the project to his Instagram Story, which was quick to garner attention. If you recall, Memphitz was infamously married to Toya Johnson-Rushing from 2011 – 2016. During an appearance together on “Marriage Bootcamp: Reality Stars,” the two got into a heated argument which resulted in him tossing food and screaming at her.

In the eyes of many, the moment validated previous claims of abuse made by his ex K. Michelle – which became the center of a very public legal battle between the two. At the time, the singer, real name Kimberly Pate, accused Memphitz of being physically violent with her and spending all her money while they were dating. The admission came while the musician was filming on the VH1 reality show “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.”
Subsequently, the music producer sued K. Michelle, as well as the series’ producer Mona Scott Young and VH1 for defamation. He ultimately lost the case which, reportedly, was partially due to him admitting the two did have a physical altercation. However, he continued to deny the notion that he’s a person who beats women. His divorce from Toya came shortly after the lawsuit ordeal was resolved.

Though it has been years since the abuse allegations surfaced, it seems clear social media users have not forgotten. Many took to their accounts slamming Memphitz for being an (alleged) abuser, as well as the production company that is supposedly behind the dating show. One user wrote:
“How could we forget MempHITZ?! Heavy emphasis on the HITZ”

While another added:
“… he beats everyone he dates but ok”

Many others seem to have shared similar thoughts.

It does not seem that K. Michelle nor Toya have reacted to the show at this time.
