Selena’s Father Criticizes New True Crime Documentary Centered Around Singer’s Killer Yolanda Saldivar: ‘No One’s Gonna Believe What She Has To Say’

Selena’s Father Criticizes New True Crime Documentary Centered Around Singer’s Killer Yolanda Saldivar: ‘No One’s Gonna Believe What She Has To Say’
The father of the late Grammy-Award-winning artist Selena Quintanilla-Pérez is criticizing a new true crime docuseries starring his daughter’s convicted killer.
The beloved singer known as “The Queen of Tejano Music” was shot and killed in March 1995 by Yolanda Saldivar. At that time, Yolanda Saldivar was the president of Selena’s fan club and manager of the entertainer’s Texas-based boutique and beauty salon. Reportedly, the fatal shot happened after Selena accused Yolanda Saldivar of embezzling funds. Selena was only 23 years old when she was murdered.

Decades after the superstar’s death, Saldivar is now set to share “new information about her relationship” with Selena in a new two-part documentary called “Selena and Yolanda: The Secrets Between Them,” according to Oxygen True Crime. The series will also reportedly detail the events leading up to Selena’s death.
As one might expect, the upcoming project has sparked outrage from many, including Selena’s father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr. In a recently released interview with TMZ, Abraham called the docuseries “nothing but lies” and said he and his family were not involved.

Abraham continued,
“No one’s gonna believe what [Yolanda Saldivar] has to say anyway. Everyone knows there’s zero truth to anything that comes out of her mouth.”
In the trailer advertising the series, Saldivar claims,
“It’s time to set the story straight.”
She later adds,
“I knew [Selena] secrets and I think the people deserve to know the truth.”

Saldivar is currently serving a life sentence in prison. She’s eligible for parole in March 2025.
