Britney Spears Is ‘Not Going Broke’ But Is Blowing Through Her Millions: ‘She Has No Concept Of Money,’ Sources Say
Update (April 30, 2024): Britney Spears is not going broke, however, she’s blowing through her $60 million estate fast.
A source told Page Six,
“She has no concept of money. For over a decade, other people were in charge of her bank accounts, and every purchase had to be reported to the court — even if it was just a pack of gum. But now, she’s on her own.”
They insisted,
“She’s not broke, but she definitely could benefit from being more careful with her cash.”
A second source said her team is in a “in a precarious position” and are hesitant to speak up about her spending habits. They don’t want to
“rock the boat and make her feel like she is in a conservatorship again. It’s tricky. No one wants to be Jamie 2.0.”
They added,
“Between flying private and booking five-star villas, it can get costly — fast.”
Last year, she spent well into the six figures for a French Polynesian vacation and stayed at a resort that costs about $23,400 a night.
A third source said, “She is not going broke but should keep an eye on private jets,” which could cost from $3,000 to $185,000 an hour, Page Six reported, citing Clay Lacy Aviation.
Britney Spears last went on tour in 2018. Her final album was released in 2016. However, since her conservatorship ended in 2021, she’s collaborated with Elton John for “Hold Me Closer,” a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
She also gets “very significant” royalties from her $15 million publishing deal with her bombshell memoir “The Woman In Me” that was released in October 2023. Thanks to the New York Times bestseller, she’s said to be “at the point of recoupment.” It sold over 2 million copies and she reportedly gets 25 percent of the net profits.
The “Gimme More” singer also no longer has to shell out millions in the legal back and forth with her father Jamie. The two recently settled the details of their conservatorship case, opting out of a trial.
Her attorney Matthew Rosengart told the outlet at the time,
“Her wish for freedom is now truly complete. As she desired, her freedom now includes that she will no longer need to attend or be involved with court or entangled with legal proceedings in this matter.”
Original Story (April 29, 2024): The fortune of popstar Britney Spears might be dwindling, quickly.
Insiders shared with TMZ that Britney Spears has been spending like there’s no tomorrow ever since her conservatorship ended. As previously reported, the 42-year-old was placed under a conservatorship in 2008, and in November 2021, after a heated court battle, the legal guardianship was terminated. Britney Spears has previously spoken out against the conservatorship, accusing the former conservator Jamie Spears (her dad), family, and management of abuse. However, sources close to the matter feel things have gotten bad for the “If U Seek Amy” singer after her father was removed as her overseer.
For starters, it’s alleged that she’s been blowing through her finances. Sources said she’s traveling way more than needed, taking lavish trips to The Brando. Between the private jets, hotels, staff, and other expenses required to visit the luxury hotel, it’s estimated that Britney drops nearly a million dollars every time she goes to her fav vacation spot. She’s also allegedly taking monthly solo trips to Hawaii, staying in the Presidential Suite at the Four Seasons, which costs around $350,000 a trip.
An insider claimed,
“She cannot afford this. She had $60 million when the conservatorship ended, and she’s now where the conservatorship started — in danger of going broke.”
Another insider shared,
“She had lots of freedom in the conservatorship and the restrictions were there to protect her. She’s not protected anymore.”
Unfortunately, concerns surrounding Britney don’t stop at her pockets. It’s also alleged that mentality, she’s not doing too well either and has been “completely dysfunctional.” Purportedly, she spends most of her time alone, with no supervision, and has radical “shocking” mood swings.
Last week, Britney and her dad finally settled the legal dispute over the conservatorship. Details of the settlement have not been confirmed but some reports noted Britney was ordered to pay Jamie Spears’ attorney fees of about $2 million, another expense her inner circle is seemingly worried over.
