Lakers New Head Coach JJ Redick Denies Calling Woman The N-Word

Lakers New Head Coach JJ Redick Denies Calling Woman The N-Word
JJ Redick, the newly appointed head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, is facing serious accusations after being introduced to the team just two days ago (June 24).
Halleemah Nash, an author, and Duke alumna, recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to allege that JJ Redick had directed a racial slur at her during their time at Duke University. In a shocking post, she wrote,
“I’ve only been called the N word to my face by a white man once in my life and it was on the campus of Duke University while I was doing work with the basketball team. And today he was named the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. What a world.”

Later, Halleemah Nash added context to her allegation, stating,
“For context, this was years ago and I’m a believer that we all have space to grow – especially from our college-level maturity. We live in a world where these exchanges happen and the intersection of race and privilege and lack of accountability all collided with that presser.”

In response to these allegations, a spokesperson for JJ Redick reportedly told media outlets,
“No, it never happened.”
JJ Redick, renowned for his standout college career at Duke and a successful 15-year NBA tenure, has transitioned into coaching as the Lakers’ new head coach.
In his new role, he recently stated,
“I take this responsibility very seriously… The expectation is a championship, and so it’s my job to deliver a championship-caliber team.”
