Rashida Jones Recalls Tupac Criticizing Her Father Quincy Jones For Dating White Women & Making ‘F*ck*d Up Kids’

Rashida Jones is opening up about her and Tupac’s brief falling out in the ‘90s.

In a new interview, the 48-year-old actress recalled a time Tupac made negative comments about her father, famed record producer Quincy Jones, 91. During the conversation, Rashida Jones revisited the moment that led to her and the late rapper’s feud.

If you didn’t know, Tupac, real name Tupac Shakur, slammed the filmmaker’s father during his 1993 interview with The Source magazine. The rapper reportedly said at the time,

“All he does is stick his d*ck in white b*tch*s and make f*ck*d up kids.”

As the daughter of model/actress Peggy Lipton, “The Office” star was “furious” about Tupac’s controversial remarks about her dad back then. At the time of his conversation, Rashida Jones was 17 when she wrote an open letter to the rapper accusing him of “destroying his race.” She also called him out for his,

“ignorance and lack of respect for his people.”

At one point during her recent interview, Rashida spoke on making amends with the “All Eyez On Me” artist and finding out that he was dating her older sister Kidada Jones.

She expressed,

“Yeah, I was so mad. It was a new perspective to me. I kind of understand the nuance more now that I’m older.”

Rashida furthered,

“It just felt like a completely unwarranted attack. My dad doesn’t work for the government. He’s a music producer. How he chooses to live his life and who he loves is just his own business, and I’ve always felt that way.”

Speaking on the way her and Tupac decided to put their differences aside, Rashida explained that her sister was “somewhere in New York” and that “Tupac came up to apologize to her,” thinking she was her younger sister.

She recalled,

“It resolved itself really nicely, because when I met him, he immediately apologized to me, immediately apologized to my dad. We sat down and had a really good conversation about it, and then he was family.”

While Quincy Jones “wasn’t happy at first” upon learning that one of his daughters was dating the late lyricist, the two were eventually able to put the past behind.

The musical legend said,

“He’d attacked me for having all these white wives. And my daughter Rashida, who was at Harvard, wrote a letter to The Source taking him apart. I remember one night I was dropping Rashida at Jerry’s delicatessen, and Tupac was talking to Kidada because he was falling in love with her then. Like an idiot, I went over to him, put two arms on his shoulders and said, ‘Pac, we gotta sit down and talk, man.'”
