Food Truck Owner Seemingly Doing Better After Allegedly Almost Taking Her Life Following Keith Lee Tip Debacle
The son of a Dallas food truck owner, who went viral over a $4,000 tip dispute, claims his mother is doing better after facing backlash and (allegedly) nearly taking her own life.
On July 28, Deon Spelling shared an emotional message on his TikTok account, @DLTrey, revealing that his mother, Kim Viverette, owner of the Sweetly Seasoned food truck, has been uplifted by positive messages. This came after Deon Spelling explained that she had been scammed while trying to resolve a tip dispute related to Keith Lee’s visit to her establishment earlier this year.
In the latest clip, Deon Spelling said:
“Just the kind words y’all left have brightened her spirits. She sees that the community isn’t all bad and that, in her time of need, the community can step up and be a shoulder to lean on.”

Deon’s previous video, posted just a few days earlier, revealed troubling details, suggesting that his mother might have contemplated taking her own life after receiving backlash over a tip dispute.
Kim Viverette, owner of Sweetly Seasoned, was criticized by Sherell Hodge, the sister of a Louisiana barber, who claimed Viverette owed the barber $1,000.

This dispute stems from TikTok star Keith Lee’s visit to Dallas earlier this year, during which he patronized Viverette’s food truck, left a $4,000 tip, and provided specific instructions on how to distribute the given funds.

During Keith Lee’s visit, a braider and a barber were also present, supposedly providing free haircuts in anticipation of receiving part of the tip.

In the video, Deon explained that after his mother reached out to Keith Lee following backlash over not splitting the tip, she received an email, allegedly from Lee’s team, to “bring all the parties together” and “find a resolution.”
Kim subsequently agreed to Lee’s request for a $300 barber’s deposit, with Lee allegedly promising to return to Dallas and “pay for food for three hours for everyone in the community.”
However, despite supposedly providing free food at the event, Lee and the barber never showed up.
Deon expressed,
“It was all a scam … She lost thousands of dollars and all the food she gave away.”
He then suggested that his mom was feeling down and stated,
“I cannot lose my mom. I just lost my grandparents, my little brother, and my dad. I only have a few left.”
Deon concluded by pleading with social media, saying,
“Just leave my mom alone. She literally cannot take any more. Leave my mother alone. PLEASE!”

Keith Lee has yet to respond to the latest developments concerning Kim Viverette’s condition and the alleged scam.
