50 Cent Shoots Down Claims That He Built New Production Studio In Shreveport Because It Was Cheap: ‘I’m Spending $20 Million Dollars’
Media mogul 50 Cent is addressing criticisms around the location of his new production studio.
During a recent interview, the hip-hop veteran explained why he decided to take his business to Shreveport, Louisiana, making it clear it wasn’t because of a “cheap deal.”

Curtis ‘50 Cent‘ Jackson revealed during a discussion with KMJJ’s Anthony “Big Ant” Simmons that while he could’ve contracted the multi-million dollar project to Houston, he ultimately decided on Shreveport because the city was already prepared to handle the studio’s needs. He stated:
“[Houston] embraced me, when I got out there they showed me a lot of love. But Shreveport had the infrastructure already here. Even the tax incentive.”
Simmons chimed in, noting that 50 Cent had faced some backlash with critics accusing him of only going to Louisiana because it was cheap. In response, 50 laughed and shook while responding:
“I’m spending $20 million this year anyway in the same building that they saying was the cheap building,”
He added:
“So find somebody else to spend the $20 million…They don’t have anyone who has enough production going on for them to just offset that.”
Going on, Simmons celebrated 50 for agreeing to film 80% of all of his productions in Shreveport as part of the deal, which he noted would “eject a lot more money” into the city. Considering 50‘s success in the industry, it’s not hard to understand why. As you may know, the “Candy Shop” rapper has held a lucrative relationship with the Starz network for some time and has produced many hit series with them, including the famed Power Universe and its multiple spin-offs, which currently has three active installments and a fourth on the way.

While Power Book II: Ghost will end following the conclusion of its 4th season, Power Book III: Raising Kanan was renewed for a fifth season, and Power Book IV: Force was renewed for its 3rd season. It is unclear when the newest series is expected to hit TV screens at this time.
