UPDATE: UMG & TDE Punch Respond To Drake’s ‘Not Like Us’ Misconduct Lawsuit
UMG has issued a response to Drake’s lawsuit, accusing them of inflating Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” success.
In a response several hours after the news broke, a UMG rep told Variety:
“The suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is offensive and untrue. We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and promotional campaigns. No amount of contrived and absurd legal arguments in this pre-action submission can mask the fact that fans choose the music they want to hear.“
Though Kendrick left Top Dawg Entertainment in 2022, he maintains a good relationship with TDE President Punch, who also responded to Drizzy’s lawsuit on X (formerly Twitter), writing,
“Naaaaaahhhh. The rap streets is done. SMH.”
