Jhené Aiko Pushes Back Against Videotaped Deposition In Car Crash Case, Reportedly Citing Her Celebrity Status
Jhene Aiko is asking a judge to step in after alleging she was mocked by the lawyer representing the plaintiff suing her over a 2022 car crash.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, the singer objected to her deposition being videotaped, citing concerns about her celebrity status. However, the plaintiff’s lawyer reportedly dismissed her concerns, stating, “Celebrities don’t get special treatment,” and questioning why Aiko was driving with only “$50,000 of insurance coverage.”

In an email, the lawyer wrote, “[Y]our client can’t claim she is a celebrity of high status while simultaneously maintaining a $50,000 insurance policy.” They also suggested that Aiko’s “celebrity” was being used as “a sword” to avoid accountability.
Jhené’s lawyer has requested protective measures to prevent the potential release of a videotaped deposition, arguing that such a leak would cause “unnecessary embarrassment.” The case stems from a July 2022 crash in which Jhené is accused of rear-ending the plaintiff’s car at a stoplight — allegations she has denied.
