New ‘Love Jones’ Inspired Walmart Ad Receives Mixed Reactions Amid DEI Roll Backs
Walmart is getting mixed reactions for its new holiday ad, featuring Nia Long and Larenz Tate from the iconic 1997 film Love Jones.
While some are excited about the nostalgia, others are disappointed, given the company’s recent rollback of its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
One user tweeted, “They don’t want DEI but they want our dollars. Also, this is brilliant advertising,” while another said, “Lovely! But, I’ll be damned if I shop at Walmart, especially now that managers have canceled DEI recruitment.”
