Original Story: Peter Thomas, former RHOA star and restaurateur, is facing the consequences of failing to pay more than $2.5 million in employment taxes.
On Thursday (Dec. 19), U.S. District Judge Kenneth D. Bell Sr. sentenced Thomas to 18 months in federal prison, followed by two years of supervised release, and ordered him to pay restitution.
Between 2017 and 2023, Thomas admitted to withholding over $1.7 million from employee paychecks at his businesses, including Club One CLT and Bar One, but failing to pay the IRS.

Prosecutors alleged that Thomas used the withheld money to “personally enrich himself,” spending on high-end purchases from Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Givenchy.
Before news of his sentencing broke, Thomas took to Instagram to warn business owners about employment taxes, urging them to learn from his mistakes. He said,
“Most people are confused when it comes to paying withholding taxes. Yes, you will go to jail. Jail doesn’t mean that the taxes are forgiven. All young business owners, please learn from my mistake.”
