Flavor Flav Reacts To Being Named One Of PEOPLE’S 2024 Sexiest Men Alive: ‘I Was Shocked To See It’

Flavor Flav says he was pleasantly surprised to be included in PEOPLE’s 2024 Sexiest Men Alive list.

In an interview with Rolling Stone published on Dec. 30, the 65-year-old shared that he was “shocked” to be named on the “Sexy at Every Age” list alongside other celebrities in their 60s, such as Denzel Washington, Blair Underwood, and Don Cheadle. Flav said:

“It surprised me big because I don’t feel I’m sexy. I was shocked to see it.”

Reflecting on the honor, which he said “made him feel real good inside,” he added:

“I’m like, ‘Wow, how can I be one of the sexiest men alive? You can’t even see my eyes. I got on sunglasses.’ But, hey, I ain’t going to lie. I’ll take it.”

Flav also opened up about how being recognized was especially meaningful, as he has been called “ugly” many times in his life. Recalling one incident, he shared:

“There was a lady that came up to me in the airport and said, ‘Ooh, Flavor Flav. You so ugly, but I want to take a picture with you.’ And you know what I did? I said, ‘Okay, come on. Take the picture. Let’s go.’ I did not offend her back or anything.”

Flav also referenced his PEOPLE recognition while firing back at an X user earlier this month who called him ugly as part of the punchline of a joke, replying:

“People Magazine says otherwise,,,, calling me one of the Sexiest Men at any age. Good guy,,,, good heart,,,, goes a long way. Something you wouldn’t know anything about.”
