Rudy Giuliani Held In Contempt Over Defamation Case & Asset Disputes
A federal judge held Rudy Giuliani in contempt for failing to comply with court orders to provide information to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, two Georgia election workers he defamed after the 2020 election. Rudy Giuliani faces $150 million in damages and has been accused of stalling by not fully transferring ordered assets, including luxury items and property. Judge Lewis Liman criticized Rudy Giuliani’s “willful” noncompliance and rejected his excuses as self-serving.
While Giuliani has turned over some valuables, including a car without its title, he claims difficulty locating certain items, such as a signed Joe DiMaggio jersey. The sanctions come ahead of a trial where Giuliani will fight to retain his $3.5 million Florida condo, with limitations imposed on his defense.
The case stems from Giuliani’s false claims that Freeman and Moss tampered with votes in Georgia, severely harming their reputations.
