Michelle Obama Will Not Attend Trump’s Inauguration After Missing Jimmy Carter’s Funeral
Seems like Michelle Obama is taking some time away from the spotlight.
After recently making headlines for missing Jimmy Carter’s funeral, the former first lady announced that she would not be present for Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20. However, her husband, Barack Obama, is scheduled to attend the event.
A statement from the Office of Barack and Michelle Obama that was shared with The Associated Press said:
“Former President Barack Obama is confirmed to attend the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies. Former first lady Michelle Obama will not attend the upcoming inauguration.”

While CNN reported that Michelle was “still in Hawaii on an extended holiday vacation” at the time of Jimmy Carter’s service, as of this post, nothing has been shared as to why she’ll be missing from Trump’s swearing-in ceremony. As you may already know, it’s common for former presidents and their families to be present at inaugurations.
Why do you think Michelle Obama has decided not to watch Trump’s big day in person?
