Diddy Sues NewsNation & Several Others For $50 Million Over Defamation Claims
Sean “Diddy” Combs has filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Courtney Burgess, his lawyer Ariel Mitchell, and NewsNation, accusing them of spreading false statements that could harm his upcoming trial.
The suit, filed in New York, claims they fabricated damaging allegations, including claims of videos showing Combs assaulting inebriated celebrities and minors. Diddy‘s lawyer, Erica Wolff, stated,
“These defendants have willfully fabricated and disseminated outrageous lies with reckless disregard for the truth.”
Burgess, a self-described music industry veteran, has claimed to possess illicit tapes of Diddy and a memoir from Kim Porter, Diddy‘s’ late partner. The suit also targets Mitchell and NewsNation for promoting these falsehoods in a September 2024 interview, where Mitchell suggested Diddy was involved in “pornographic” videos with minors. Diddy is seeking $50 million in damages and further relief, alleging the false claims are poisoning the jury pool and undermining his right to a fair trial.
