NYC Mayor Eric Adams Reportedly Told Top Officials NOT To Criticize Trump & Support Deportation Efforts Shortly Before Charges Were Dismissed
Mayor Eric Adams convened an hour-long meeting with top commissioners and officials on Monday to clarify his administration’s stance on key issues. Coincidentally, the meeting arrived shortly before it was announced that his fraud charges would be dropped.
The session, held at the Municipal Building, followed confusion about city employees’ roles in interactions with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. Adams instructed officials not to criticize President Trump, avoid interfering with immigration enforcement, and trust his leadership in protecting federal funding for the city.
The meeting, which began with Adams asking officials for feedback, saw some expressing concerns about guidance on ICE encounters.

However, Adams urged them to “stop complaining” and focus on their duties, stressing the importance of avoiding public criticism of the president.
He emphasized that his administration aims to work with, not against, the federal government, aligning with his previous comments about collaborating with the Trump administration.
This directive came amid criticism from political opponents, such as Comptroller Brad Lander, who accused Adams of prioritizing a pardon from Trump over the city’s well-being.
Despite the controversy, the mayor maintains that working with the federal government is essential to securing New York City’s interests, including essential funding.
