NBA Star Ja Morant Wins In Court As Judge Dismisses 2022 Lawsuit That Alleged He P*nched A Teenager
Ja Morant secured a legal victory in a lawsuit involving an alleged 2022 punching incident.
A Tennessee judge dismissed the case, ruling that Ja Morant acted in self-defense. The incident, which occurred during a pickup game, involved a 17-year-old accuser, Josh Holloway, who claimed Ja Morant punched him.
However, Shelby County Circuit Judge Carol Chumney found that Holloway failed to prove Morant’s actions weren’t self-defense, noting that Holloway struck Morant in the face with a basketball before the altercation.
Chumney also highlighted the potential for both Morant and Holloway to inspire youth and demonstrate leadership. Earlier, a Shelby County DA rep confirmed that no criminal charges would be filed, citing insufficient evidence.
Despite the dismissal, Holloway’s legal team signaled intentions to continue the lawsuit. This case marks another chapter in Morant’s complex legal journey.
