Steelers Rookie Derrick Harmon’s Mother Passes Away Just After He’s Selected As 1st-Round Draft Pick
Heartbreaking news for Derrick Harmon — his mother, Tiffany Saine, passed away shortly after he visited her in the hospital to share he was a first-round draft pick for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Derrick Harmon, formerly of Oregon, called draft night “bittersweet” as his mother was on life support.
Saine had suffered a stroke during Derrick Harmon’s freshman year at Michigan State, leaving her paralyzed on the left side. “She’s the reason I never gave up,” Harmon once said, recalling how she endured nearly eight brain surgeries while raising him. After fulfilling his dream of going pro, Harmon said he rushed to the hospital to tell her, “I’m a Steeler.”

Sadly, she died soon after. Harmon had been devoted to his mom, even using NIL money to buy her a wheelchair-accessible van. The Steelers and NFL community have extended their condolences to the Harmon family during this devastating time.
Prayers up for his family.
