Megan Thee Stallion Denies Rumors She Was Banned From The Met Gala Over Food Tasting Video: ‘Y’all Made That Up’
Megan Thee Stallion is clearing the air on those Met Gala ban rumors.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the rap superstar addressed online speculation that she was banned from the prestigious fashion event after posting a video of herself sampling food inside. Megan made it clear the rumors are completely false, stating:
“No. We’re gonna dead these rumors right now, okay? People are like, ‘Oh my God, Megan, you got banned from the Met Gala. No, I didn’t, babe. Like that’s not true.”
She continued:
“Y’all made that up and ran with it. They love making [stuff up]. Anna [Wintour] loves me, babe. That’s why my phone was out.”

The rumors stem from a now-viral video Megan shared on May 5, where she samples food at the Met alongside rapper Doechii and WNBA star Angel Reese. Despite the Met’s well-known no-phone policy, Megan cheekily acknowledged the rule, saying in the video:
“We’re not supposed to have our phones, but we’re doing it [anyway].”
While the Met Gala hasn’t officially responded to the footage, online speculation ran wild. Some users drew comparisons to Grown-ish actor Luka Sabbat, who recently revealed he’s still banned from the event after taking a selfie and smoking at the Gala back in 2019.
But as far as Megan is concerned, she’ll be back next year.
