New Orleans Jail Maintenance Worker Arrested, Accused Of Helping 10 Inmates Escape Facility
A jail employee in New Orleans has been arrested in connection with the recent inmates escaping from the Orleans Parish jail.
According to reports, Sterling Williams, 33, was taken into custody by local authorities on Monday (May 19). Jail records show he is facing one count of malfeasance in office and 10 counts of simple escape.
Sources say Williams worked as a maintenance staffer at the facility. While three employees were initially suspended without pay following the escape, Williams is currently the only one to face arrest.

As previously reported, 10 inmates (down from initial reports of 11) were discovered missing around 8:30 a.m. on May 16 during a routine headcount. Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO) officials believe the group managed to break free and flee the jail around 1 a.m. through a hole in the wall more than seven hours earlier.
So far, four escapees have been captured: Kendell Myles, Robert Moody, Dkenan Dennis, and Gary Price. However, six inmates, Antoine Massey, Lenton Vanburen, Jermaine Donald, Leo Tate, Derrick Groves, and Corey Boyd, remain at large.
No additional details about the other suspended employees have been released at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
