Tyler Perry Praises Sinbad’s Return To Acting For ‘Straw,’ 5 Years After He Suffered A Stroke
Don’t call it a comeback!
Sinbad has returned to acting nearly 5 years after suffering a stroke. Fans will be able to watch his latest performance in Tyler Perry’s upcoming thriller, Straw, which stars Taraji P. Henson. On Tuesday (June 3), at a screening for the film in New York City, Tyler Perry touched on working with Sinbad.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, he said:
“It’s so important to me, as a man, that men want to support and take care of their families. I know it’s been really difficult for him, so to give him this opportunity made me feel amazing. I’m really excited for him. And he delivered.”

As reported, Sinbad, 68, suffered a stroke in October 2020. In 2024, he shared a post thanking fans for standing by him as he recovered:
“Thank you for your prayers, support, and positive thoughts. They’ve carried me this far and will see me through to the finish line. It really is a different world out here!”
Straw is set to air on June 6 on Netflix.
