Damon Dash Ordered To Surrender Film Rights, Music Ventures & Business Assets After Failing To Pay $823K Judgment
Damon Dash’s legal troubles have reached a breaking point.
A federal judge has ordered the hip-hop mogul and his company Poppington LLC to forfeit full ownership of multiple businesses and movie copyrights after failing to pay an $823,284.71 judgment.
The June 9 order from U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger includes Dash Films Inc., Bluroc LLC, Blakroc LLC, and interests in Lebanon Improvements LLC, Ocean East Improvements LLC, and 1996 Songs LLC.
Dash must also surrender copyrights to “Honor Up,” “Too Honorable,” “We Went to…China,” and “Welcome to Blackroc.”
If he doesn’t object by June 16, the U.S. Marshal will auction the assets within 180 days.
This stems from a defamation and copyright case that saw Dash hit with $705,400 in damages plus $117,884.71 in interest. He now has 14 days to produce ownership records and another 10 to turn over assignments.
Dash’s financial issues date back to his 2019 bankruptcy.
