As recovery crews work around the clock, residents are demanding answers about the region’s emergency alert system. Local reports revealed that volunteer firefighters requested a mass alert at 4:22 a.m. on the day of the flood. However, dispatchers delayed it, citing the need for special authorization. Some residents said they didn’t receive a warning until 10 a.m.
“I believe those questions need to be answered,” Sheriff Larry Leitha said. “To the families of the missed loved ones, to the public, you know, to the people who put me in this office. And I want that answer, and we’re going to get that answer.”
Are prayers are with those impacted by this tragedy.
