Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s Former Co-Star Eddie Griffin Suggests His ‘Suspicious’ Death May Have Been Murder: ‘I Don’t Believe That Man Drowned’
Comedian Eddie Griffin is expressing doubt about the circumstances surrounding the death of his former co-star, Malcolm-Jamal Warner.
During a recent stand-up set, Eddie, who starred alongside the late actor for 4 seasons of the ’90s sitcom Malcolm & Eddie, questioned the conflicting details about Malcolm’s July 20 death, which was ruled an accidental drowning.
Eddie stated: “I don’t believe that man drowned. I don’t… but that ain’t gon’ fix sht.”*
He continued: “It’s too suspicious. They had too many different stories.”
As previously reported, there have been conflicting accounts surrounding Malcolm’s tragic passing, which reportedly occurred while he was on vacation in Costa Rica with his young daughter.

Initial reports claimed Malcolm was making a heroic attempt to save his daughter from being swept away by the tide while they were enjoying time on the beach. However, later accounts suggested that his daughter wasn’t in the water when Malcolm himself was pulled from the ocean and died while attempts were made to resuscitate him. Local authorities later disputed those reports, maintaining that Malcolm drowned while trying to save his daughter.
In addition to the conflicting details, Eddie also questioned why Malcolm’s child’s mother wasn’t present at the time, going as far as to suggest Malcolm may have been murdered. He added:
“Now I’m trying to figure out what they’d want to kill him for. He’s the nicest motherf**er on Earth.”
What are your thoughts on Eddie’s remarks?
