Rapper B.o.B. Says Flat Earth Beliefs Led To Venue Bans: ‘Had No Idea That It Would Be So Controversial’

B.o.B says his infamous 2016 comments about the Earth being flat sparked more backlash than he expected. During a recent interview with Hot 97’s Nessa, the rapper admitted, “I had no idea about the virality. I really didn’t think anybody cared.” He compared it to myths like Bigfoot or UFOs, noting, “Some stuff is lore, some stuff is conspiracy, but some stuff has some valid connection to culture.”

He added that he couldn’t have guessed the moment would’ve been so “controversial.”

He acknowledged that some venues stopped booking him because of the controversy. “They were concerned,” he said, calling the situation a “blind spot.”

Back in 2016, he tweeted, “If my words didn’t hold any weight, my account wouldn’t be censored. Don’t try to back me into the ‘conspiracy theorist’ corner.” Neil deGrasse Tyson responded, “Being five centuries regressed in your reasoning doesn’t mean we all can’t still like your music.”
