Trump Says Smithsonian Focuses Too Much On ‘How Bad Slavery Was,’ Historian Pushes Back [VIDEO]
Donald Trump is criticizing the Smithsonian museums for focusing too much on the negative parts of America’s history.
Trump confirmed that White House lawyers will “go through the Museums” as part of a review, claiming the Smithsonian is “OUT OF CONTROL, where everything discussed is how horrible our Country is, how bad Slavery was, and how unaccomplished the downtrodden have been — Nothing about Success, nothing about Brightness, nothing about the Future.”
He added, “We are not going to allow this to happen, and I have instructed my attorneys to go through the Museums, and start the exact same process that has been done with Colleges and Universities where tremendous progress has been made.”

The review is reportedly focused on eight museums, including The National Museum of African American History and Culture, The National Museum of American History, and The National Museum of Natural History.
Historians like Leah Wright Rigueur are pushing back on Trump’s comments, saying it is “absolutely not” possible to overstate how bad slavery was and that Trump is trying to “relitigate something that has objectively by all sides been decided.”
