According to a new report from The Sun, Grammy-winning music producer and film executive Vassal Benford has revealed that an official biopic about the blues icon is currently in pre-production.
The film, aiming for a 2026 release, will chronicle King’s journey from his humble beginnings in Mississippi to his rise as the internationally celebrated “King of the Blues.” It will highlight pivotal moments in his life, including his move to Memphis, the mentorship he offered a young Elvis Presley, and his remarkable musical achievements, winning 15 Grammy Awards and releasing over 50 albums before his passing at age 89 in 2015.
