[UPDATE] Famed Writer Chimamanda Adichie Reportedly Serves Nigerian Hospital w/ Legal Notice Over Shocking De@th Of Her 1-Year-Old Son
Continue to keep Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie in your prayers.
According to #Nigerian reports, the renowned author and her husband have formally served Euracare Hospital in #Lagos with a legal notice following the de@th of their 21-month-old son, Nkanu Nnamdi. The notice, dated January 10, alleges that the hospital, its anaesthesiologist, and attending staff breached their duty of care during a series of procedures the child underwent before his de@th in the early hours of January 7. These measures were preparatory steps for a planned medical evacuation, and the filing claims that Nkanu developed severe complications after sedation, including inadequate monitoring and other lapses in patient care.
The legal document demands certified copies of all medical records related to the toddler’s treatment within seven days and warns that destruction of evidence could carry legal consequences. According to the notice, the couple also raised concerns about the availability of basic resuscitation equipment and informed consent procedures. So far, #EuracareHospital has not publicly responded to the legal notice, and broader investigations into the circumstances of the child’s de@th have begun.
