College Track Athlete Kevaughn Goldson K!lled in St#bbing — Girlfriend & Fellow Athlete Denita Jackson Arrested
A tragic situation has rocked Lincoln University.
Track and field athlete Kevaughn Goldson has died after being stabbed, and his girlfriend — fellow Lincoln University sprinter Denita Jackson — has been charged in connection with his death.
According to Jefferson City Police, officers were dispatched at 1:09 AM Monday to an address near the Missouri campus. When they arrived, they found Goldson suffering from a stab wound to his chest and back. He was airlifted to University Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities say Jackson told police she had left work early Sunday night because she wasn’t feeling well. She stated that when she returned home, she found Goldson inside her roommate’s room behind a locked door. Jackson told officers she used a hair clip to unlock it and found Goldson and the roommate in bed together, clothed.
Jackson told police a fight erupted. She claimed Goldson kicked her in the stomach, knocking her off the bed, and then began choking her. Jackson stated she grabbed a knife from under the witness’s bed and stabbed him before calling 911.
When officers arrived, Jackson was taken into custody and transported to the Cole County jail. Prosecutors have since charged her with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
Lincoln University released a statement following the incident, saying their prayers and thoughts are with family and friends impacted by the “tragic situation.”
