Fentanyl Discovered In Packaging Of Barbie Dolls Sold At Discount Store
Scary news.
Residents of Independence, Missouri, were left stunned after fentanyl was discovered hidden inside the packaging of #Barbie dolls sold at a local discount store. Police say store employees flagged a “suspicious powder substance located in the packaging of a Barbie Doll,” which later tested positive for the powerful synthetic opioid.
According to officials, the fentanyl was not on the dolls themselves but instead “taped inside the back packaging of the dolls.” Investigators determined that five affected units had been sold between March 19 and 20, but all were quickly tracked down and recovered. Police emphasized that “there is no reason to believe compromised units were sent to other retailers,” and confirmed that no injuries have been reported.
The case remains under investigation as authorities work to determine how the drug ended up inside the packaging.
Experts continue to warn about the dangers of fentanyl exposure, with one noting that even tiny amounts can be deadly, saying, “A couple of grains of salt can kill somebody.”
