DaBaby’s New Chicken & Waffles Restaurant Sparks Price Debate Over $45 Waffle, $40 Lobster Tail & $6 Bottled Water

DaBaby’s first Charlotte restaurant is officially open, but the menu prices are already becoming part of the conversation online.

No Knife Chicken & Waffles opened Sunday at 700 Atando Ave., serving a lineup of flavored waffles, wings, seafood, sides and specialty drinks. According to the restaurant’s menu, a Plain Jane waffle costs $15, while flavors including banana pudding, birthday cake, blueberry lemon, red velvet and peach cobbler are priced at $25 each. Customers can add six wings for another $10.

The biggest sticker shock appears to be the $45 Soulfood Cornbread Waffle, made with collard greens, candied yams and mac and cheese. Other prices include $40 for a 9-ounce lobster tail, $30 seafood boil egg rolls, $20 jerk chicken or birria egg rolls, $7 sides and $6 bottled water. Flavored lemonades run $8.

Many social media users hopped online to express their disappointment in the prices, questioning why he decided to price certain items higher than others.

Still, hundreds reportedly lined up for the grand opening Sunday morning in Charlotte, North Carolina.
