Former Video Vixen Gloria Velez Announces New ‘General Population’ Podcast Following Controversy Over Comments Made On Cam’ron & Ma$e’s Show

Gloria Velez is turning a recent controversy into a new venture!

The former video vixen and model has announced the launch of her upcoming podcast, General Population, just days after responding to comments made about former music video models on Cam’ron and Ma$e’s sports talk show, It Is What It Is.

Sharing the announcement on social media, Velez wrote, “For once, EVERYBODY is invited!” She continued, “New voices. Real conversations. Different perspectives. No VIP section, no special treatment, and definitely no sugarcoating!”

The podcast’s name is particularly notable given Velez’s recent exchange involving It Is What It Is co-host Treasure “Stat Baby” Wilson. As previously reported by theJasmineBrand, Treasure questioned what happened to video vixens from hip-hop’s earlier era, with the conversation including a reference to the women returning to “general population.” Velez pushed back, questioning, “What exactly is wrong with general population?” She added, “We were never aliens, inmates, or some separate species. We were women working in entertainment, then we grew up, we evolved.”

Now, Velez appears to be embracing the phrase as the title of her new podcast. While she has not announced a premiere date or revealed any guests, she teased, “The conversations are about to get interesting… and trust me, EVERYBODY has a story!” She added, “Stay tuned. The gates are officially opening soon!”
