Marvin Gaye’s Son Doesn’t Want Lenny Kravitz Involved in Biopic, ‘It’s wrong and shameful!’
Someone is none too pleased that Lenny Kravitz is playing the role of Marvin Gaye in an upcoming biopic about the late singer’s life. And surprisingly that ‘somebody’ is Marvin Gay’s son, Marvin Gay III. Why? Reportedly, Marvin Jr., was childhood friends (the two remain friends today) and finds the role to be shameful, telling TMZ:
“The producers and directors of this film are very wrong and shameful … [They’re] trying to do a film about a low period in his life. They don’t even know the whole story. I would hope [Lenny] doesn’t have any idea that we are against this film being done.”
The film will be called ‘Sexual Healing’ and allegedly focuses on Marvin’s life in the 80s when he battled drug abuse and depression. No official comment yet from Kravitz. [TMZ]
