Marsha Ambrosius Introduces DC to ‘Late Nights & Early Mornings’

Most of us fell in love w/ Marsha Ambrosius’ voice, while she sang in the Neo-soul duo Floetry (little did I know that this artist had a mean writing game and produced/penned hits for Alicia Keys, Jamie Foxx, Mario, Fabulous, etc.). And in a stand-still room full of Washingtonian’s, “we” fell in love with her again.
With her ear-catching accent, Marsha introduced us to Late Nights & Early Mornings via a listening session at The Direct Drive Record Pool at the U St Music Hall. Marsha gave us a taste of her upcoming album, by singing a few minutes of each song and explaining the concept behind each.

We briefly chatted and she shared a unique process that very few artists consider or execute these days–“one-takes.” When I first heard this from someone else, I didn’t believe it, but she explained why. “Because with Late Nights & Early Mornings I wanted to make sure that you could hear my true-intent with each song. The emotion even if I was about to cry, even if I was about to giggle, I wanted to stay in the moment.”
