Trey Songz Talks Tour & New Album, “I think it’s a leap forward…”
27-year-old Trey Songz (real name Tremaine “Trey” Aldon Neverso) is gearing up to begin his Anticipation Tour, along with finishing up his new album ‘Chapter V’, which is the full-length follow-up to ‘Passion, Pain & Pleasure’.
“I’m finishing the album now, actually. I’m currently in Miami, and I have one more week until [tour] rehearsals, so that’s when I switch to full ‘tour mode’. The tour’s been very prevalent in my mind, but the record and making sure the album’s complete have been on my mind as well.”
Trey first began working on ‘Chapter V’ last June but has devoted most of his time as of late to the project. The timeline for release is currently in the works, but he believes the finished product will be a little on the unexpected side.
“I’m definitely trying to leap forward with every album, and with this album, I think it’s a leap forward and a leap into the past. I want to embody in this album — this fifth album, which is very monumental for me — what I am, where I came from and where I’m going… I just think it’s going to be very fluent, very diverse yet very cohesive album.”
In between working on his Album, Trey has to fit in time to rehearse his tour performances. On the Anticipation 2our, Trey will perform tracks from his mixtapes, ‘Anticipation II’ and ‘#LemmeHolDatBeat2’. This is the first time Trey has ever performed behind a mixtape. The 18-date Anticipation 2our is scheduled to kick off in Cleveland on February 9th.
“If I can go out and do 5,000-7,000 seats off a mix-tape, and make it an intimate experience where I’m performing records the fans have never heard performed before, it’s a treat for the people who really hold you down as an artist….”
In addition to music, Trigga will make his film debut later this year with “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D.” In the film, he stars as the lead love interest:
“It’s a horror film, and those are fun to shoot”.
Pretty dope right?
