Nas’ Baby Mama, Carmen, Pissed At His New Song “Daughters”, “What a disappointment”

Recently, Nas dropped his new single, “Daughters”. In the song, Nas opens up about his 17-year-old daughter, Destiny, and discusses an incident when Destiny put a photo of a box of condoms on twitter. At the time, the photo of Nas’ daughter went viral and lots of folk had expressed how inappropriate it was for a teenager to share the photo. Fast forward to the present day and Destiny’s mother (Nas’ baby mama), Carmen, is none too pleased with how Nas talks about their daughter in his new song.
Thursday evening, Carmen took to twitter to express her frustration. She tweeted:
Just heard “Daughters” by Nas. What a disappointment! He had nothing positive to say about our daughter and his depiction of her is false! Destiny is extremely talented, caring and has a huge heart, none of those things were mentioned. I’m proud of her. Destiny is still a child-it was the wrong platform. No he’s not speaking on it-he’s rapping about it. There’s a huge difference and I don’t respect it.
Maybe he just doesn’t know her like I do. My song would have been totally different!

Nas is just being real about his daughter, not to put her in a negative light but to let everyone know where he fell short in her upbringing, he’s not proud of it but letting other fathers know what HIS mistakes were with his daughter is and eye opener for other fathers not to make the same mistake with their daughters.
Your daughter is a beautiful girl and is everything that makes you proud but she’s also young & not perfect,(no one is) we ALL make some bad choices as teenagers but we learn from them.
I just heard the song, and I honestly think ms carmen is reading to much into it. The song my be titled daughters but its really describes him not doing more for is daughter. have a seat carmen
Carmen needs to stop. That song may be the top ringtone for us mothers who know some of these deadbeat fathers (and those who ONLY provide money) will eventually be pained by their actions or lack thereof. Daughters are precious and need male guidance more than ever. His daughter probably is a great girl but he’s only speaking of his pain AS A FATHER to know what his mistakes were in her upbringing. That song has a TRUE message unlike some of these songs out right now.
I really like the song. I Understand it. I think she just blew it all out of proportion. If she feels as though she can make a bette song then why not? The song to me was positive and what I got from it was the fact that he thought that if he taught her what not to do she would listen, but you can’t choose your child’s path only they can and at the end he clearly had a father daughter talk about the situation and showed her graduating and going off to college after everything that happened so how is that not positive?…..and its not your place to say whether it was disrespectful or not because YOUR DAUGHTER was in the video herself and didnt see a problem with it. Parents need to ask their children how they feel about things then speak. obviously your opinion doesn’t count.

I feel the song is a eye opener for young blk men that dont give a shit about there children,It shows that a girl child needs her father as much as a son needs his father. men are quick to blaim the mother not realising they play abig part in a childs life,nas is owning up to where he went wrong most men wouldnt.
