Trey Songz Responds To NeYo, ‘That’s a sucker move’ + NeYo Barks Back

This week, Ne-Yo visited The Breakfast Club and provided some constructive critisism for his R&B colleague, Trey Songz. Specifically, NeYo suggested that Trigga Trey lacked emotion. He explained:

Iv’e talked to Trey before. Trey’s one of them dudes that could be a serious problem if he decided to put that emotion in there. Just the emotional disconnect is there.

Apparently, Trey heard about NeYo’s comments and seemed to be a bit perturbed by them. In an interview with KMEL in San Fransisco, he responded:

I’ma talk to Ne-yo when I see him. It ain’t even that. The thing is that Ne-yo knows me. Ain’t no need to have that conversation for the world to hear, you know. And I feel like that’s a sucker move.

He also says that NeYo never told him personally about his lack of emotion:

It’s all good though. I’m a real nigga. They gon’ take shots.

Meanwhile, NeYo has taken to twitter to clarify his comments in the interview.

Well, d*mn. Was NeYo wrong for his comments? And ladies, does Trey Songz lack emotion?

I don’t look at it as a “sucka move.” Criticism, whether good or bad, has to be taken into consideration. And honestly it’s true. He said he should have told him personally? What’s he supposed to do? Call him up and say, “Hey Trey, I heard that new track and you sound good, but it seems like you’re lacking emotion.” Trey being the arrogant fool he is would have been offended then too.

I disagree with Ne-yo. I think the songs that Trey’s label decides to release as singles don’t have emotion…they’re mostly club songs and such. How much emotion can you put into singing about the bitches & the drinks? But most of the slower songs on his albums have lots of emotion. Like “Please Return My Call”. I feel for him when I hear that song.

Doesn’t Ne-yo have some pretending to be straight to do?

To me neyo is the one lacking but he is just hating trey was the bigger man in this telling him to talk to him. : )

NE-YO COULD HAVE MADE THAT CONVERSATION BETWEEN TREY AND HISSELF PRIVATE, BUT HE WANTED PUBLIC ATTENTION I GATHER. NE-YO HAS NO EMOTION HISSELF.

I heard the interview when Neyo said Trey had no emotion, and based on the question he was asked, what he said was true. Trey sings about sex sex sex… sex with a girl he met at the club. There’s no emotion to be put into that type of song. He is lacking (this coming from a person who went to high school and is from the same town as Trey and is currently dating one of his childhood friends). Neyo talks about nothing but sex too but the difference is, you get the feeling Neyo actually likes and wants to be with the woman he is sexing in his songs. Trey is f***’n in his songs. That’s the difference between emotion in my opinion.
