Ne-Yo Says He Was Wrong for Criticising Trey Songz, Publicly Apologizes

It looks as though the beef between Ne-Yo and Trey Songz has quietly died down. Last week, during an interview with ‘The Breakfast Club’ Ne-Yo provided some constructive criticism about fellow artist, Trey Songz. He said:
Iv’e talked to Trey before. Trey’s one of them dudes that could be a serious problem if he decided to put that emotion in there. Just the emotional disconnect is there.
Trigga caught wind of those comments and was none too pleased. He (Trey) responded to this, during a San Fransisco radio interview:
I’ma talk to Ne-yo when I see him. It ain’t even that. The thing is that Ne-yo knows me. Ain’t no need to have that conversation for the world to hear, you know. And I feel like that’s a sucker move.
Fast forward to the present day and Ne-Yo has apologized for his remarks. He took to twitter and wrote:

Should Ne-Yo have apologized for his remarks?

That was big of Ne-Yo. What’s said between brothers should remain between brothers. Ne-Yo should have kept quiet. What he said was true but Ne-Yo ain’t got a leg to stand on cuz his music has moved towards pop.
But Ne-yo was a writer first and still writes for MANY artists.
True, but the comments were talking about their music staying on the RNB side. They even asked Ne-Yo about the fact that his music seemed to go toward the pop-side. Ne-Yo is an amazing writer and artist, that’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying he shouldn’t have threw his friend under the bus. I agree with his comments on Trey cuz the sex thang is getting old, but as a friend, he shouldn’t have put their personal conversation out for the public. That’s all I’m saying. He was right to apologize. (in my opinion)
I don’t think what he said was wrong though. He didn’t say it in a negative manner to me. And the comment Ne-yo made was of him lacking emotion in his music, not sticking to r&b. I just feel Trey would have been offend either way b/c he’s so arrogant
I agree. Trey don’t know how to put emotion in his songs. I heard him sing live…like killing a cat! Ne-Yo was right and I def don’t think he meant it maliciously. I really feel like it was to help, but when ur knee-deep in sh!t u really can’t smell the flowers. In otherwords, Trey can’t see the love from his comment so Ne-Yo should have kept it between the two cuz you know ppl will try and make it RnB Beef
What he said wasn’t wrong but the venue he chose to say it was not tasteful. Trey may lack emotion in his music but as Trey’s friend Ne-Yo shouldn’t have voiced that on a radio show. He should have told him that personally. That’s like if one of my friends, that I kick it with all the time, goes and tells a random group of people that I’m a cool girl but I smack when I eat. It’s not a terrible thing to say but if my friend never told me that or even HAD told me that before there’s no need to announce my insecurities to a bunch of people I’m not close to. That’s really the principle of it all. Trey shouldn’t have retaliated tho. It wasn’t that serious.
Where did it ever say they were friends though? Being in the industry, knowing each other and being cordial doesn’t make you friends. It makes you two ppl that are in the industry, that know each other, that are cordial to one another
I totally agree @ShadiiLady! Ne-Yo saying that was immediate shade even though he may not have meant it hurtfully, just constructively.
When I saw the interview Ne-Yo did, I was surprised he said that. I agree with him, but I thought it was inappropriate to do on that platform. I’m happy he apologized.
