Did Tyra Banks Sorta-Kinda Lie About Her Harvard Degree?

Back in 2009, super model Tyra Banks successfully attended and completed a program at Harvard. As you’ll recall, the America’s Next Top Model creator shared her excitement on Twitter.

But recently, an article in Jezebel, had folk questioning the validity of her credentials. So, what’s the skinny on her degree? As part of Harvard’s Owner/President Management extension program, Tyra attended classes on the Harvard Business campus. The classes were taught in three, three-week units over a period of three years, costing students $33,000 per unit. After successful completion of the coursework, the student (i.e. Tyra) receives  a “Certificate of Completion”. So where’s the confusion? Tyra’s degree is not part of the school’s top-ranked Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.). And some people argue that Tyra’s been misleading about her Harvard credentials. In a recent (and random) interview, of her recent college experience, she explained:

“My most difficult class at Harvard Business School would have to be finance…Harvard Business School, the number one business school in the entire world — in order for my company to grow and be the best and reach these women and to serve them, I needed the best. So I went to the best.”

Eh. What do you think–did Tyra somehow misrepresent her Harvard credentials?
