Ex-NFLer Deion Sanders, Drops Lengthy Open Letter About Life Changes
Deion Sanders is dropping some knowledge on us…Over the weekend, the ex-football player posted what some consider a thorough and thought provoking blog post to his site about changes – seasonal, life, spiritual, etc. It’s interesting and positive considering his most recent divorce drama with estranged wife Pilar Sanders. As most of you know, it’s been a very public and nasty battle between the two that, at times, even placed their children in the middle of their disputes. In the post Deion talks about the things he loves about Fall (i.e. football, world series, preseason basketball) but more importantly adapting to changes in life. Peep some excerpts:
Fall is one of my favorite times of the year, although I truly enjoy the heat of the summer. Football season is kicking into high gear. Major League Baseball is headed toward the World Series, and the NBA just laced ‘em up. The leaves are changing colors, and it is a reminder that regardless of how difficult your yesterday was, CHANGE is coming, baby! Nothing lasts forever! The only thing constant in life…is change. Now listen closely, not all change is bad. There are some things in our lives that need to change in order for us to grow and prosper. If you are the exact same person you were five years ago, doing the exact same thing you were doing, that’s a good indication that you have not grown. Proper change is a sign of growth.
While it is a sign of growth, we must realize that change is not always comfortable and convenient. That’s where we get the phrase “growing pains”. Sometimes growth hurts.(That’s why you can only grow in spurts.) It hurts when finally you realize that you have outgrown certain people, places and things in your life and you must move on. Understand that just as the earth has seasons, so do your relationships, jobs, and careers. Some people, places and things were only meant to be in your life for a season. One of the worst things you can do is hold on to something or someone when its season is over. That would be like wearing a big ol’ fur coat in the middle of summer or some thongs with some Timberlands in a winter storm! You feel me?
