Wendy Williams Dragged Over Comments About HBCUs [VIDEO]
Wendy Williams is being dragged in these Twitter streets. The talk show host recently made comments about Jesse Williams and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) that offended some.
The ‘say it like you mean it’ host addressed the petition currently circulating about firing Jesse from Grey’s Anatomy. She shared that she sees both sides of the story and referenced his 2016 BET Awards speech. She said,
I must say to you, he was on BET. His speech was very poignant. On the other hand, I would be really offended if there was a school that was known as a historically white college. We have historically Black colleges. What if there was the National Organization for White People, only? There’s the NAACP.
When her usually loyal studio audience sat there in dead silence, she added, laughing,
Look, everybody’s quiet. You’re leaving me out here to dry by myself? One wrong word — I’m choosing my words carefully, but what I am saying is racism s**ks and we can all do better in our household, educating ourselves and teaching our children to make it better.”
Revisiting the topic of HBCUs, she said,
National speeches like this will always rub people the wrong way just like white people will be offended because Spelman College is a historically Black college for women. You might feel funny about that. I know I’d feel funny, like I just told you. If there was a white college or whatever.

I’m glad her audience and the internet shut her ignorant self down. On another note, I love Shonda’s hair like that! It’s a younger, fresher look.
Did she forget why we have Historically Black Colleges….Ignorance at it’s best. We don’t have to go out anymore to witness it just turn on the TV!!
Some people that aren’t #HBCUMAde will never get it! HBCU’s were founded by former slaves that were denied education at other (non-black) institutions. Kinda like BET was the outlet for us to showcase our videos and music when other stations wouldn’t. You know, Just like power 99 fm. The radio station that Aunt Wendy started with that played mostly hip hop and r&b music! And is the reason she has the platform in which she stands on now. In the words of my alma mater “respect your roots”!

#Wendy Williams isn’t any dumber than the Moran who thought he was too cool for school. How the hell did she ever get the platform to speak such stupidity? Sad. With no educational background, evidently, even a lame dame like Wendy Wiliams gets to talk . Too bad it’s not an educated , worthy, relevant topic of means . Then again, no one is listening to that beast !
I love Wendy. I thing she got a point; if blacks keep talking about differentiating from white, the racism will keep on existing, ex; pageant queen for black, award show for black… but the more blacks blending, diversity will be a regular thing.
We did not differentiate ourselves from whites. We were FORCED into segregation. We said, If you are going to prevent us from entering your colleges, we will build our own. If you are going to keep us for your pageants, we will create our own. If you won’t honor our musicians or our actors with your awards shows, we will create our own award shows and we will celebrate our culture. We embrace our own!! So don’t blame Black Americans for the existence of racism. We didn’t create it (we don’t have enough power to do that) we just found a way to live beyond it!

I’m from NY and been a Wendy fan since she was a nobody back in her radio days. She now has a much larger platform that should could use to the advantage of her people. Really Wendy, this is what you use your voice for? I’m sorry, but I can forgive you for all of the other stupid crap you’ve said in the past, but you lost me on this one. My mother always told me that if you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything. When you read what they had you saying or maybe these were your own words. They just weren’t the right words. They didn’t sound like they came from an educated person. You can’t know where you’re going unless you know where you came from. Study our history…

Tuskegee University and Clark Atlanta my Alma Mater.These are HBCUs. They were also founded to give every black person the opportunity to get a college education.And in some cases will find you money to help pay for it.This was a while back when this happened for me.Many non HBCUs don’t give you a chance at an education if your sat scores aren’t up to par and other factors you will be turned away from those colleges.Wendy has always seemed to be anti-black.She handles white celebrities with kid gloves.Shes harder on black females in the business as well.I heard she lost a sponsorship from Chevrolet.The woman over that particular division is a graduate of Howard University an HBCU.I think Wendy says negative things about the black community because she feels she has to cater to her large white fan base that she’s accumulated since her tv show.Smh
