R. Kelly Is “Heartbroken” Media Attempting To Destroy His Legacy
R. Kelly continues to speak out and address reports claiming that he sexually mistreats women. On Friday the R&B singer released a statement explaining that he’s “heartbroken” by the accusations. He says that he is
a God-fearing man, a son, a brother, and most importantly a father.
He also adds that the media
has dissected and manipulated these false allegations.
Kelly says the accusations “perpetuated by the media” are an
attempt to distort my character and to destroy my legacy that I have worked so hard to build.
Last year, Kelly made headlines when journalist Jim DeRogatis reported in that he was accused by three sets of parents of holding their daughters in an “abusive cult”. Kelly and the alleged victims deny the allegations.
Earlier this month, Kelly was again accused of misconduct, by a former partner of his who claimed that Kelly “intentionally” infected her with a sexually transmitted disease. A representative for Kelly stated that he
categorically denies all claims and allegations.
Earlier this week, Kelly slammed the Time’s Up movement which he referred to as the
attempted lynching of a black man who has made extraordinary contributions to our culture.
