Basketball Wives Recap: The “C” Word, Eric & Jennifer Call it Quits, the 6 Month Rule
It’s Sunday! Football Day for men and reality TV day for me! With the new year, comes new drama from VH1’s Basketball Wives. Over the holiday weekend, some new (and embarrassing drama) came to surface involving Gloria Govan’s sister, Laura Govan, who is a cast-mate for the show. Peep the back-story here. But enough of that, check the high and low-light’s of tonight’s episode.
- Scene 1: “Mean Girls” meets Miami. Shaunie, Royce, Jennifer and Evelyn surprise Suzie and Gloria while the two are having lunch. Check the clip for yourself and watch Gloria call Shaunie a c*nt. (That’s all that I recall after the heated exchange.)
- Shaunie shares what it’s like post-divorce (from Shaquielle O’Neal) dealing with their 5 children and providing some sense of normalcy. By watching the way she interacts w/ her children, you can tell that her family is top priority for her. I’m interested in seeing how well Shaunie’s new boo, Marlon, fits in. Peep the two celebrating together (above) during New Years.
- The saga w/ Jennifer’s husband, Eric, continues. Both agree (sorta) that “it’s over.” Eric plays victim and seems entirely nonchalant about the situation (probably because cameras are involved). Nonetheless, this explains why we spotted Jennifer without her wedding band for the last few months.
- We are introduced to Suzie’s new boo, Jared Odrick, who is a defensive end for the Miami Dolphins. Suzie describes her new boo as “young, hot and strapping.” Did we mention that dude is only 22 years old? Obviously, this friendship is going nowhere–fast.
- Royce shares with us that she and her boyfriend, Dwayne, have an agreement that they will wait 6 months before they are intimate with each other. The 6 months are up, and they now apparently get it crackin’. In this episode, Royce also decides to have a dinner party to introduce her girlfriends to Dwayne. During dinner, they engage in an interesting conversation surrounding sex. During the discussion, Evelyn blurts out, “Are y’all f*ckin yet?” Good job, Evelyn. Also, Suzie shows up for lunch and an immediate back and forth between Evelyn and Suzie ensues. Although I’m sure Evelyn was right in being upset initially, her yelling @ Suzie was over-the-top and unnecessary for another effing episode. I’d like for Evelyn’s bullying ass to have a seat, in a folding chair.
- Gloria Govan and her baby-daddy (they are no longer engaged) pack up their home up and head to Los Angeles. Watching them interact with one another is like watching paint dry.
Anyway, that about sums it up. Check back next week when Tami and Jennifer seem to get into some type of altercation.
