Idris Elba Politely Puts Reporter “In Her Place” About Tyler Perry Comment

Ouch! Actor Idris Elba, who we loved seeing on stage at the BET Awards with Jill Scott, politely put a reporter in her place recently. Back in February, Elba made what appears to be some controversial remarks about Tyler Perry. He was quoted as saying
“Can I be candid? I don’t like all of Tyler Perry’s films. Yes, I did work with Tyler for ‘Daddy’s Little Girls’ because it portrayed a positive image of a black father. I am happy for Tyler’s success…we need Tyler Perry…by going to support his movies, we need to show economic strength. But we are also responsible for elevating film. I’m not with buffoonish characters like Madea or Big Momma.”
At the BET Awards, a reporter asked Elba to “justify” his response about Tyler Perry. Peep his response.
Perhaps the use of the word “justify” with her question may have not been most appropriate. What do you think?
