Jay-Z Compliments Beyonce, “She’s the 2nd coming of Mike–she’s like a machine.”
Jay-Z called into Miami’s 99 Jamz, to promote his upcoming album, his wife’s drive and popping bottles.
On protecting hip-hop via “Watch the Throne”:
“It’s just protecting the music and the culture, like, it’s people that’s in the forefront of the music…It’s like, ‘Watch the throne,’ protect it. You just watch how popular music shift and how hip-hop has basically replaced rock n roll as the youth music. The same thing could happen to hip-hop. It could be replaced by other forms of music. So it’s just like making sure we’re putting that effort in making the best product, so we can contend with all these other music. With all dance music that’s dominating the charts right now, indie music that’s dominating the festivals and still holding off rock n roll. Just to hold our place and make sure — the hip-hop culture is still the most dominant form of music around the world.”
On what she’s learned from his wife Beyonce:
“What I’ve learned from her is the same thing that I’ve learned from Mike. I know it’s blasphemy to compare the two….but I think she’s like the second coming. The hard work and the dedication that she puts into her shows….IDK, it just makes you want to work harder at your crafts. She’s like a machine.”
On popping bottles:
“I’m trying to break the record for Ace of Spades in one night. I’m assuming the record is like 75 bottles….I’m going that way.”
On parting at LIV (last night):
“I keep hearing about this club Liv. I was there one time. Everybody’s talking about how great it is….so I’m like ‘Man, I gotta go down there and celebrate with Miami.’
